Fin Sets
One .finset file holds every size and role in a Single, Twin, Thruster, Quad or 5 Fin family. Each fin pair uses one saved design.

Foil Section
% chord
The crest (dashed amber line on the outline) is the foil's thickest line. The front bevel follows the outline from the LE base round to its tip point; the rear bevel follows the TE. Drag its squares (base / tip ends) and circles (shape) to reshape it. Crest at sets where the auto crest sits on the lower fin.
x/10
Most surf fins use symmetric NACA 00xx sections around 9–12% thickness with max thickness ~30% back from the leading edge (Max thickness above sets this) — the presets above follow that convention.
mm
The outside curve is picked up and shifted away from the outline by this much, unchanged in shape — not reshaped or blended — so it reads exactly this value at the true LE/TE, and adds the same amount everywhere else too, including at Max Thickness (0 = pinch to a knife edge, matches the outline rails exactly). On symmetric foils it's split evenly between both faces; on Flat/asymmetric foils the flat inside face stays flush and the full amount goes to the outside face.
Special-case single concave: a shallow dish scooped off the flat inside face. Off by default and independent of the foil preset — leave it off for normal fins. The dish stays clear of the leading/trailing edges and rails and fades out up the span, so it never reaches the tip.

Drop or click to load reference
The photo and its calibration are working aids only: they are not saved in .fin files or in the browser recovery copy, so load the photo again after reloading or opening another design. A traced outline you apply becomes part of the design and is saved with it.
Drag the image to move it · drag a corner handle to resize (aspect locked) · scroll to resize · click again (or Esc) when done
Click the photo's LE base, TE base, then tip.
Click the LE base, then the shared tip.
Guided image tracing
Fit and align the photo first. The current outline guides the edge search; review the dashed result before applying.

Rails are sampled at 200 evenly-spaced points along arc length. Foil section uses NACA camber math; thickness rail gives the magnitude at each span position.

Advanced: export other or multiple bases
The current base is selected by default. Hold Ctrl to choose several; custom cant and offsets apply only to the current base.
Technical detail
Nest multiple fins onto one CNC blank (0 in batch)
Each row is a captured snapshot. Editing the fin does not change a row until you choose Update from current design. Review its hardware settings before cutting.
Browser storage is full or blocked, so this batch is not being kept across reloads. It still works here and exports normally; export it before reloading.
Available panel stock
Dimensions in mm. Z is thickness. Saved in this browser.
×mm
Required Z = fin and base thickness + onion skin underneath + facing allowance above.
Fit near-sized panels
Normal settings are tried first. Reduce spacing for width/length fit and onion skin and facing for thickness fit. Applies to stocked panels and manual fixed stock.
Choose spacing for your cutter clearance and onion skin for your workholding. Fin geometry and dowel checks stay unchanged. The result reports any reductions used.
Advanced nesting settings
Off: mirrored fins cut from the opposite face after flipping the stock. On: they are reflected end-for-end so every foil faces the same stock face.
